I read your posts as soon as they land in my inbox each time because I love how vividly I see and feel what you write. Even when detailing childhood abuse, I feel warmly wrapped in the equivalent of your favorite tshirt, held safe from what you describe while feeling as though I'm standing right next to you at church. Thank you for telling your stories and being kind to yourself.
Just saying — would buy a Heather Hogan book or graphic novel in a flash.
I needed this so much. I just finished the first draft of my memoir AND today I went on a friend date with someone that I met online. I feel like therapy and writing my memoir was the stitching and now I'm actively mending. I actually think that now I could go on a date-date and am shocked by this realization. Good luck with your T-shirt and socks....you can do this!
I've been reading what you write for probably over a decade now, and I just want to say, again: thank you for gracing us with the gift of reading your writing. As usual, beautiful, candid, heartfelt, and brilliant.
but also where is this mask-required mending class please?
i love imaging stacy seeing you melting down and knowing that fluids are #1 emergency care. (oh my kitten who is the twin of your grey tabby baby just announced it's dinner time)
I just threw away a pair of my favorite socks and feel incredibly guilty. The bin man already picked them up, so I can’t redeem myself. BUT, my new favorite pair of socks will not suffer the same fate. Your instructor sounds perfect and I like how she weaves hope into the task of repair work. That’s so lovely.

<3 COME TO CRAFTERNOON! it's virtual (every other week) crip-centering mends-and-crafts hangout and free of course and we help each other mend things or just hang out and be in community without getting or giving cooties. https://couchcrafts.wordpress.com/2026/06/05/summer-2026-crafternoon-schedule/

Your patches are so beautiful ! Now I feel like mending my favourite pair of pants, which I've been procrastination for 18 months.
