My friends came over some months after Twister came out, and we played Pictionary. One friend kept drawing weird shapes, and then, in frustration, used the side of a pencil to scratch out a zig-zag cone. One of us yelled "Twister" immediately followed by another one with "Helen Hunt!" I really though we solved it with that one.
1. The steak and eggs they eat at Aunt Meg's house is one of my formative movie meals. I want it so bad.
2. This movie would be 100% better if the therapist fiance fell in love with Jo and Tornado Chasing and left Billy behind to live his happy weatherman life.
3. My favorite line in this movie is when Bill says "He's in it for the moneyyyyyy, not the science!" and this line is uttered at least once a week by somebody in my household.
4. I like to think that Jo is hunting down the specific tornado that ate her dad.
I think Aunt Meg is also a lesbian on account of basically running a halfway house for wayward boys (and lesbians), owning her own land in middle America in the 1990s, and insisting she is “alright” when literally crushed by a house.
my favorite line in this movie is when a cow flies past their truck in the middle of tornado and helen hunt just yells “cow!”
This review absolutely made my day
This is amazing and totally accurate.
Fun story:

Too bad it was supposed to be "shapely."
Okay everybody knows you draw a curvy woman for shapely! 🌪️
Helen Hunt is one of my roots! And this review made me cackle with glee.
Helen Hunt is to Twister what Laura Dern is to Jurassic Park, and both were integral to my queerness.
