Judith Leyster's self portrait is one of my favorite paintings from the region... And it was misattributed to a male painter for years because they thought a woman couldn't have done it.

I deeply appreciate this post. My focus as a queer writer is about the erasure of queerness from rock history. I write the stories that Rolling Stone or NME would never cover. As a former Art History minor, this post feels very similar. There is so much that wasn't taught about women and queer artists in college text books. Thank you for this beautiful write up Heather!
